Baseball Game Preview: Paul Cuffee vs. Hope Blue Wave

Paul Cuffee will venture away from home to challenge the Hope Blue Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Paul Cuffee has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with 13 straight defeats, while Hope will come in with four straight wins.

Meanwhile, Hope hadn't done well against North Smithfield recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Blue Wave put the hurt on the Northmen with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Blue Wave have won five games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hope's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Paul Cuffee, their loss dropped their record down to 0-12.

Paul Cuffee suffered a grim 17-2 defeat to Hope when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Can Paul Cuffee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
