Baseball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes vs. Granite Falls Tigers

The Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes will head out on the road to challenge the Granite Falls Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Vernon Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Granite Falls' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Mount Vernon Christian made easy work of Charles Wright and carried off an 8-2 win. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Granite Falls entered their tilt with South Whidbey on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons, sneaking past 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 19, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Dwayne Pocknett Jr, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Drake Smith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Mount Vernon Christian's record is now 13-2. As for Granite Falls, their record now sits at 9-7.
