Baseball Recap: Bolsa Grande Has No Trouble Against Saddleback

After only two runs in their last match, Bolsa Grande made sure to put some runs up on the board against Saddleback on Wednesday. The Matadors put the hurt on the Roadrunners with a sharp 13-2 win. Considering the Matadors have won four games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mikey Haley Jr. made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Haley Jr. was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Damien Montes De Oca, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Junior Rizo, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Bolsa Grande always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saddleback only posted an OBP of .344.

The victory got Bolsa Grande back to even at 6-6. As for Saddleback, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6-1.

Bolsa Grande will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Roadrunners: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
