Basketball Game Preview: Greenville Red Raiders vs. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets

The Greenville Red Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.

Greenville took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 56-34 margin over Indian Land. The Red Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Ava Owens, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Kailee Williams was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Greenville was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Fort Mill came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 45-35 win over the Falcons.

Fort Mill found their leader in sophomore Colbie Wolf, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 14 points.

Fort Mill pushed their record up to 16-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Greenville, their record now sits at 14-12.

Everything went Greenville's way against Fort Mill when the teams last played back in February of 2016, as Greenville made off with a 58-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
