Independence won the last time they faced Jackpot and things went their way on Thursday too. The Independence Colts came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jackpot Jaguars, sneaking past 57-55. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Colts.

Jackpot lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jorge Avila, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 boards. Avila has become a key player for Jackpot: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Martinez, who posted 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Independence's record now sits at 2-0. As for Jackpot, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will venture away from home to face off against Carlin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackpot, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Independence at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
