Basketball Game Preview: Silverado Skyhawks vs. Durango Trailblazers

After both having extra time off, the Silverado Skyhawks and the Durango Trailblazers will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Silverado hasn't scored more than 25 points for six games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Silverado is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Provo last Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Silverado was outmatched by Provo and fell 64-25. The Skyhawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-15.

Meanwhile, Durango scored the most points they've had this season last Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Mojave. The Trailblazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Durango's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Silverado, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Silverado came out on top in a nail-biter against Durango when the teams last played back in February of 2023, sneaking past 45-42. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Durango's Shayla Kantarevic, who posted 22 points. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Silverado to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
