Baseball Game Preview: Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers vs. Cesar E. Chavez Lobos

The Houston Math Science & Tech Tigers will take on the Cesar E. Chavez Lobos at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cesar E. Chavez took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Houston Math Science & Tech, who comes in off a win.

Houston Math Science & Tech will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Wisdom on Friday. The Tigers blew past the Generals 12-2.

Jaden Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Houston Math Science & Tech is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise. Gonzalez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Ryan Cervantes was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mario Leija, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Houston Math Science & Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wisdom only posted an OBP of .214.

Meanwhile, Cesar E. Chavez was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 8-0 to Bellaire. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Houston Math Science & Tech's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6. As for Cesar E. Chavez, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Houston Math Science & Tech took their victory against Cesar E. Chavez when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Lobos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
