            Softball Recap: Centennial Cougars vs. Brentwood Bruins        
        
		
        
        
            Centennial had lost four straight at home, but  on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-17 to make it five. They came up short against  the Brentwood Bruins, falling  15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bruins this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  12-6  back in March.
As for Brentwood, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record  this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
For Brentwood's part,  Marina Mason was a  major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Mason has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than nine  strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with three  runs and one  stolen base. Those  four  hits gave  her a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Maggie McClendon was  incredible,  going a perfect 1-for-1 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in March of 2024.  Jazz Richards also deserves some recognition as  she  scored her first  run of the season.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Centennial is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Independence  at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Brentwood will  challenge  rival Nolensville  at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Bruins 2.9, the Knights 4) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
