Baseball Game Preview: Eagle River Wolves vs. Colony Knights

The Eagle River Wolves will challenge the Colony Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Eagle River will be strutting in after a victory while Colony will be coming in after a defeat.

Eagle River is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Bartlett, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Eagle River was ranked fourth). The Wolves were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Golden Bears on Saturday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Golden Bears recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Brooks Inch was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Mullen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Colony unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They lost 16-4 to Wasilla. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Colony saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Carlson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Colony's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Eagle River, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eagle River has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Colony struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Eagle River skirted past Colony 7-6 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
