Baseball Preview: Douglas County Huskies vs. Columbine Rebels

Douglas County is 4-0 against Columbine since April of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Douglas County Huskies are on the road again to play the Columbine Rebels at 4:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Saturday, Douglas County was able to grind out a solid win over West Point, taking the game 6-2.

Maicah Cabral was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (he also didn't allow any walks). Cabral was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

In other pitching news, Douglas County got a great performance from Reed McConnell as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gunnar Tinari, who went 1-for-1 with a home run. Another player making a difference was Corey Chavez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.

Columbine was handed a two-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Higley on Saturday. Everything went Columbine's way against Higley as Columbine made off with a 9-3 victory.

Douglas County's record now sits at 3-1. As for Columbine, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.
