Manchester waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Napoleon Pirates. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Flying Dutchmen have posted since November 8, 2024.

Manchester had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-21, 25-23.

Manchester was led to victory by Abbi Austin and Avary DuRussel. Austin had 19 digs and two assists, while DuRussel had seven digs and four aces. That's the most digs DuRussel has posted since back in November of 2024.

They weren't the only good server: Manchester was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matchups.

Manchester's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Napoleon, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Manchester has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Anchor Bay on the 29th. After both having extra time off, Napoleon and Addison will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on September 4. The game will give the Pirates their first taste of in-conference action this season.
