Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Shaw Eagles vs. Northshore Panthers

Archbishop Shaw hasn't had much luck against Northshore recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Archbishop Shaw will look to defend their home field against Northshore at 11:00 a.m. Neither Archbishop Shaw nor Northshore posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Archbishop Shaw is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since March 3rd on Friday. They lost 12-2 to Holy Cross. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Archbishop Shaw saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Percle, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Northshore entered their tilt with Chalmette on Thursday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Owls a 2-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly two runs.

Northshore's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Shaw, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Archbishop Shaw might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from Northshore when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can Archbishop Shaw avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
