Baseball Recap: Cactus Drops Season-High Score on Greenway

Cactus hadn't done well against Greenway recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Cactus Cobras came out on top against the Greenway Demons by a score of 8-3. The Cobras' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Gavin Carlson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Cactus is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Eli Torres was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Phoenix Huisinga was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Cactus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Cactus' victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Greenway, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Cactus and Greenway will both be playing Forge Christian the next time they take the field. Cactus will head out to face Forge Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Greenway will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
