Baseball Recap: Estero Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Estero owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Ida Baker Bulldogs 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Will Swan, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Ida Baker off the board. Those 12 strikeouts gave Swan a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Evan Goeller was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Estero's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ida Baker, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6.

After both having extra time off, Estero and Gateway Charter will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 7:00 p.m. on March 25th. Gateway Charter has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.33 runs per game on average), something Estero will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Ida Baker, they will head out on the road to face off against Mariner at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
