Volleyball Recap: Coronado Takes Down Ranked Foothill

Coronado faced Foothill in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Cougars put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 3-0 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Coronado not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Foothill between 18 and 20 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 25-19.

Coronado can attribute much of their success to NAKISA FRIEDMAN, who had 19 digs and two aces. That's the most digs FRIEDMAN has posted since back in September. TOMMIE OLINGER also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Coronado's win bumped their record up to 20-7. As for Foothill, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 16 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.

Coronado will head out to face off against Sierra Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Foothill, they will square off against Durango at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
