Basketball Recap: Washington Extends Winning Streak to 20

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Washington walked away with it. They breezed by the Southridge Raiders to the tune of 53-23 on Friday. The Hatchets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season.

Washington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Katie Reed, who posted 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. What's more, Reed also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Shay Hawk was another key player, going 6 of 12 to rack up 16 points and three steals.

The victory (which was Washington's 20th in a row) raised their record to 22-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points over those games. As for Southridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Washington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-37 win against Princeton on the 8th. Southridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
