Basketball Recap: Newark's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Canal Winchester last Friday, Newark came back down to earth. The Newark Wildcats lost to the Pickerington Central Tigers on the road by a 51-32 margin on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Newark's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5. As for Pickerington Central, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-3.

Newark and Pickerington Central should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Newark will take on Teays Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday up 289 places (70 vs. 359). Similarly, Pickerington Central (ranked 23rd) will meet Groveport-Madison (ranked 601st) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
