INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - After three lead changes,
Warren Central (Indianapolis, Ind.) took the lead for good when
Max Hernandez kicked a field goal with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter and held on to upset
Pike (Indianapolis, Ind.) 24-21 on Saturday.
The Red Devils pulled ahead on a passing touchdown, and subsequently went into halftime leading 7-6. The Warriors took the lead for good with a field goal by Hernandez in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring six points in the third, Warren Central still trailed by five points going into the fourth quarter. But 11 points in the fourth helped WC pull out the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Pike, which notched a 34-32 victory over Ben Davis in its previous outing. The loss snapped Pike's three-game winning streak.
