Basketball Recap: Vanguard College Prep Takes a Loss

Vanguard College Prep extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were dealt a 53-16 loss at the hands of the Grace Prep Lions. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1207th, while the Lions are ranked 157th).

As for Grace Prep, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 24 points or more this season.

Grace Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zaria Howard, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. What's more, Howard posted three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Angelina Medlock was another key player, shooting 75% from the field on her way to 13 points and three steals.

Vanguard College Prep has already played their next contest, a 38-23 defeat against McGregor on the 6th. As for Grace Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-22 victory against Whitney on the 6th.
