Preview: Banneker Trojans vs. Jackson Jaguars
Banneker has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Jackson Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Banneker posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 70-67 win over Tri-Cities. The win was all the more spectacular given Banneker's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Tri-Cities is ranked 83rd).
Meanwhile, Jackson came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 82-58 margin over Mays. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Jackson has posted since December 15, 2023.
Banneker's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Jackson, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Banneker came up short against Jackson in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 67-60. Can Banneker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
