Basketball Recap: Jenna Brumbaugh's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Milton-Union over Valley View

Milton-Union and Valley View squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Milton-Union had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Valley View Spartans by a score of 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since January 25, 2024.

Milton-Union lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jenna Brumbaugh, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds. She has become a key player for Milton-Union: the team is 11-2 when she posts at least 15 points, but 4-6 otherwise. Sophie Layman was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Milton-Union smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matches.

Milton-Union's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Valley View, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-7.
