Baseball Recap: Thorndale Beats Mason for Their 11th Straight Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Thorndale had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They never let the Mason Punchers get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Gunner Ferguson made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brenson Beran was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Eschberger, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

The win (which was Thorndale's 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for Mason, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7-1 record this season.

As of now, neither Thorndale nor Mason have any future games scheduled.
