Softball Recap: University Christian Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

It's playoff time, and University Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They never let the Harvest Community Warriors get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The Christians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Piper Tessier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other pitching news, Dixie Tessier tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 19 consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Mila Lackowski was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Sinai Tunsill also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

University Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive games.

University Christian's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Harvest Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-7.

Coming up, University Christian will face off against North Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Christians 1.8, the Eagles 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Harvest Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
