Baseball Game Preview: Zion Christian Academy Eagles vs. Clarksville Christian Centurions

The Zion Christian Academy Eagles will face off against the Clarksville Christian Centurions at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Zion Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Zion Christian Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Christian Community on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Colts by a score of 8-6. The Eagles have struggled against the Colts recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Caleb Rutledge was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Carson Boylan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Jack Handley was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Clarksville Christian gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out West Creek 13-12.

Zion Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Clarksville Christian, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Zion Christian Academy couldn't quite get it done against Clarksville Christian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4.
