Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Trenton

Trenton waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Edsel Ford Thunderbirds as they made off with a 13-5 win. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lauryn Holder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Mia Maldonado and Analy Guth did most of the damage at the plate: Maldonado went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Guth went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Maldonado a new career-high. Maggie Krohn also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Trenton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

Trenton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Edsel Ford, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Trenton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Thunderbirds: the pair will be back at it again later today.
