Softball Recap: Jal Gets the Win

While Jal's victory against Eunice wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 11-9. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Johnna Butts made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off seven hits. Butts was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted over her last eight matches.

In other batting news, Yanira Sauceda was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kaedyn Lujan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The victory got Jal back to even at 10-10. As for Eunice, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-11.

Coincidentally, Jal and Eunice will both be playing Loving the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Cardinals will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
