Basketball Preview: Shenandoah Zeps vs. Bellaire Big Reds
The Shenandoah Zeps will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bellaire Big Reds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Shenandoah's game was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 win over Caldwell.
Meanwhile, Bellaire's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They fell just short of Shadyside by a score of 75-73. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (56), Bellaire still had to take the loss.
Bellaire might have lost, but man, Mac Pettigrew was a machine: he scored 49 points along with six steals and five rebounds. That was a full 67.1% of Bellaire's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Maurice Webb, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Shenandoah's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Bellaire, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.
