Softball Recap: Pioneer Valley Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Pioneer Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Paso Robles Bearcats, sneaking past 10-9. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Ciena Acosta spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Pioneer Valley got a big performance out of Mila Dolores, who went 3-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madelyn ?Mady? Llamas, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pioneer Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

Pioneer Valley's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Paso Robles, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7-1.

Coincidentally, Pioneer Valley and Paso Robles will both be playing Orcutt Academy the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bearcats will host them at 4:30 p.m. on the 17th.
