Softball Recap: Bloomington North Takes a Loss

Bloomington North extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They came up short against the Shakamak Lakers, falling 16-7. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lakers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Kinsley Stanley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Chelsea Helton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

As for Shakamak, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7. That looming 16-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Shakamak's side, the team relied heavily on Jamison Ewers, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Ewers a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Gambill, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Bloomington North will take on Bloomington South at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shakamak, they will head out to challenge Eastern Greene at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbirds have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
