Softball Game Preview: Irvington Vikings vs. Washington Huskies

Irvington is 1-7 against Washington since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Irvington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

Irvington lost 7-1 to Moreau Catholic on Thursday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Irvington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Briones, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Briones is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

Washington played against James Logan on Thursday and lost via forfeit.

Washington now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Irvington, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Irvington suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
