Volleyball Game Preview: Hope Christian Academy Lions vs. Hawthorne Hornets

Hope Christian Academy is 2-7 against Hawthorne since September of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Lions will face off against the Hornets at 2:00 p.m. Hope Christian Academy will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

If Varsity Opponent wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Hope Christian Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Addyson Wilson. The Lions came out on top against Varsity Opponent by a score of 2-0 on Friday with plenty of help from Wilson, who had eight aces and three assists. She has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Hope Christian Academy took both sets by at least 19 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-3, 25-6.

Hope Christian Academy relied on the efforts of Briley Parish, who had six aces, and Mackenzie McRaney, who had five aces. That's the most aces McRaney has posted over her last six matches.

They weren't the only good servers: Hope Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hawthorne lost 3-0 to Crescent City on Thursday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-5, 25-3, 25-13.

Hawthorne's loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Hope Christian Academy, their record is now 12-0.

Hope Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Hawthorne in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
