Basketball Recap: Ava Goering's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pretty Prairie over Flinthills

After flying high against Fairfield last Thursday, Pretty Prairie came back down to earth. The Pretty Prairie Bulldogs took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flinthills Mustangs on Friday. The loss was the Bulldogs' first of the season.

Pretty Prairie lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ava Goering, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Vogl, who put up four points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks.

Even though they lost, Pretty Prairie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pretty Prairie fell to 3-1. As for Flinthills, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pretty Prairie will host Bucklin at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th. As for Flinthills, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Classical at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
