Basketball Game Preview: Seminole Warhawks vs. Booker Tornadoes

The Seminole Warhawks will head out to take on the Booker Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Seminole took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 72-38 victory over Sports Leadership & Management. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Warhawks had established a 29 point advantage.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Seminole to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Turknett, who posted 14 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. That's the most assists Turknett has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Fekollari, who went 7 for 12 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Booker had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down the Wildcats 73-56. Given the Tornadoes' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 143rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Seminole better keep an eye on Brianna Behn. She was instrumental in Booker's win, dropping a triple-double on 21 points, 13 boards, and ten assists. The game was Behn's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jsiyah Taylor, who earned 13 points along with seven steals and five assists.

Booker is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.1 points per game. As for Seminole, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-14.

Seminole took a serious blow against Booker in their previous meeting back in December of 2014, falling 66-31. Can Seminole avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
