Softball Recap: Florence Huskies vs. Burlington Cougars

Florence entered their tilt with Burlington on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Burlington Cougars 16-4. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Addison Dalton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Lilly Roe was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen two or more in the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Claire Bosley was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Florence kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burlington only hit two.

Florence's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7-1. As for Burlington, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
