Basketball Recap: Canyon Comanches vs. Crean Lutheran Saints

Canyon had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 15-10 to make it four. They took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crean Lutheran Saints. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 80-54 on January 6th.

Despite the defeat, Canyon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jonah Kim went 6-for-15 on his way to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Tate Dohrmann, who posted five points.

As for Crean Lutheran, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-6. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Canyon is ranked 87th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Hunter Caplan, who shot 43% from the field en route to 17 points.

Coming up, Canyon will take on Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crean Lutheran, they have already played their next contest, a 65-45 loss against Bishop Gorman on the 24th.
