It was a good run, but Stoughton unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 74-65 loss to the McFarland Spartans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (63), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Stoughton's defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. As for McFarland, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Stoughton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-49 victory against Portage on the 6th. As for McFarland, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mount Horeb at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Horeb will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something McFarland surely won't give up without a fight.
