Baseball Recap: Mt. Healthy Takes a Loss

Mt. Healthy had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it 13. They fell 10-5 to the Deer Park Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-10 back in April.

As for Deer Park, their win ended a 15-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-15. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

For Deer Park's part, Karter Lipscomb made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lipscomb has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Michael Goebel was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Kingston Fall was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Coming up, Mt. Healthy will challenge Purcell Marian at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Deer Park, they will host Riverview East Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
