Softball Game Preview: Averill Park Warriors vs. Bethlehem Central Eagles

The Averill Park Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Bethlehem Central Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averill Park's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Bethlehem Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Averill Park fell victim to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Bethlehem Central faced off against Albany on Monday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 9-3 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Molly Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Campbell was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyla Hanlon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Meghan Biche, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Averill Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Bethlehem Central, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Averill Park couldn't quite get it done against Bethlehem Central in their previous meeting on Wednesday as they fell 5-1. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
