Baseball Game Preview: Homer Trojans vs. Leslie Blackhawks

The Homer Trojans will take on the Leslie Blackhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Homer was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Springport. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won five in a row.

Xander Dubois and Roman Butler did most of the damage at the plate: Dubois went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run, while Butler went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double. That's the most stolen bases Dubois has posted since back in April. Jeffery McCullough also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Leslie earned a 7-4 victory over Pewamo-Westphalia on Saturday.

Leslie has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Homer, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
