Softball Game Preview: Irvine Vaqueros vs. Heritage Patriots

The Irvine Vaqueros will square off against the Heritage Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Irvine is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over Lakeside.

Irvine got a great performance from Carlee Lombardo as she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Irvine let Harper Vandermolen and Katie Liu run wild. Vandermolen went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Liu went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Liu has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Midori De Los Santos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Irvine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Heritage had just enough and edged out Alhambra 8-7 on Saturday.

Irvine's record is now 13-16. As for Heritage, their record now sits at 10-13.
