Softball Recap: Rice Lake Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Rice Lake had lost four games at home, but after bumping their record up to 8-10 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the River Falls Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Warriors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kamryn Kunz was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dakota Thompson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Harper Schommer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for River Falls, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games.

On River Falls' side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MORGAN KIVEL, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Rice Lake will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
