It's playoff time, and North Newton had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Riverton Parke Panthers a 5-0 shutout on Saturday. The Spartans' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last seven matchups.

The result came thanks to Sydney Rainford's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Macy Busboom, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Rylynn Klemz was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

North Newton's record is now 22-3-1. As for Riverton Parke, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-5.

Coming up, North Newton will take on Southwood at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. Riverton Parke does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
