Baseball Recap: Brazos' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Brazos walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the New Waverly Bulldogs 6-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Brazos let Gunner Grigar and Chase Kuhn run wild. Grigar went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Kuhn went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Grigar has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Luke Polasek, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Brazos kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Brazos' victory bumped their record up to 14-15. As for New Waverly, they moved to 15-14 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Bulldogs beat Brazos by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.
