Softball Recap: Decatur Central Takes a Loss

Decatur Central had taken Franklin Community down for five straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Hawks took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzly Cubs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Decatur Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mak Wilkerson, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Decatur Central has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Franklin Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

While Decatur Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
