Softball Game Preview: Elwood Panthers vs. Oak Hill Golden Eagles

The Elwood Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Oak Hill Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elwood will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Elwood turned things around against Tipton on Monday. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Blue Devils.

Kelsey Armes was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Stout, who went 2-for-5 with three runs and one RBI.

Elwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Oak Hill, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Taylor a 13-0 shutout on Monday. The contest marked the Golden Eagles' most dominant win of the season so far.

Oak Hill has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Elwood, their record is now 5-8.

Elwood suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Oak Hill in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
