Softball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Sheridan's Winning Streak

After a string of 14 wins dating back to last season, Sheridan's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cabot Panthers. The Yellowjackets were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but the Panthers' pitchers proved too tough.

Mason Wilson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Skylar Sterritt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Even though they lost, Sheridan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Sheridan fell to 5-1. As for Cabot, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Coming up, Sheridan will be playing in front of their home fans against El Dorado at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. El Dorado has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something Sheridan will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cabot, they will take on Bryant at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
