Baseball Recap: Campo Verde Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Campo Verde). They never let the Burges Mustangs get on the board and left with a 20-0 victory on Saturday. The Coyotes' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Anthony Flacco looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

On the hitting side, Campo Verde let John Heilman and Ethan Leonard-Myers run wild. Heilman got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Leonard-Myers went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That stolen base was Heilman's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Carter Skrypek, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple and one run.

Campo Verde's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Burges, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-2 record this season.

Campo Verde didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-2 win against Buena on the 1st. As for Burges, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-6 victory against Bel Air on the 4th.
