Basketball Game Preview: Santa Ana Valley Falcons vs. Avalon Lancers

The Santa Ana Valley Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Avalon Lancers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Avalon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Santa Ana Valley, who comes in off a win.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Santa Ana Valley faced off against Acaciawood two weeks ago. Santa Ana Valley snuck past Acaciawood with a 58-54 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Falcons considering their 28-point performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Avalon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Holy Martyrs Armenian, falling 63-41. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1276th, while the Armens are ranked 305th).

Santa Ana Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Avalon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Santa Ana Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Avalon when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 39-31. Will Santa Ana Valley repeat their success, or does Avalon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
