Basketball Recap: Moriarty Comes Up Short

If Moriarty was riding high fresh off their 62-42 takedown of Socorro last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Moriarty Pintos came up short against the Los Alamos Hilltoppers on Tuesday, falling 69-44. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pintos of the 56-43 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Moriarty still got an impressive performance from Jordan Brown, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 21 points. That was a full 47.7% of Moriarty's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Weston Cooley, who put up seven points.

Moriarty's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Los Alamos, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-14.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Espanola Valley the next time they take the court. Moriarty will head out to face Espanola Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Los Alamos will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
