Baseball Recap: Hawaii Prep Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Hawaii Prep had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Kealakehe Waveriders on Tuesday as the Hawaii Prep Ka Makani made off with a 17-8 win. For the Ka Makani, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Waveriders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Hawaii Prep let Ren Kamoshita-Langan and Ed Lustik loose on the outfield. Kamoshita-Langan scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Lustik scored four runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Kamoshita-Langan a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamea Leleiwi, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Hawaii Prep has already played their next contest, a 6-4 win against Honoka'a on the 8th. As for Kealakehe, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-2 loss against Hawaii Prep on the 13th.
